True Grit

King left the Army in 2012. He says it taught him the life skills of discipline, loyalty, integrity and the willpower to just keep going no matter how hard things get. He now shares those skills through Military Fitness, his gym in Fulham, London. King believes people stay well within the comfort zone during fitness – some easily give up, then complain they aren’t getting fitter or stronger.

At Military Fitness, all instructors are former British Military soldiers who have been to the extreme, both physically and mentally, and are now offering that experience in their unique classes. Each class is one-hour long, and military discipline is used to help individuals get the most out of each session. ‘Our aim,’ says King, ‘is to make sure you leave the gym knowing you could not do that by yourself.’
