With 30 intensity levels, the Motive Fitness Elegance Vibration Plate is a useful – albeit basic – addition to any full-body training plan.
If you’re looking to upgrade your home gym set-up, you’ll undoubtedly need some of the best home gym equipment. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a huge amount of space, though, because a lot of super-effective fitness kit – such as vibration plates – take up a relatively small footprint.
One of the vibration plates I tested recently – the Motive Fitness Elegance – stood out for this very reason. While some vibration plates can be quite bulky affairs, the Motive was the most compact one I had tested. It’s relatively inexpensive, too, making it a good choice for beginners to vibration training. But is that all it has to offer? I put the Motive Fitness Elegance vibration plate through its paces to find out.

Motive Fitness Elegance Vibration Plate features
The Motive Fitness Elegance Vibration Plate is an ideal piece of kit for those who haven’t done vibration training before. That’s thanks to the four simple programs – manual, warm up, just right and fat burn. It has 30 intensity levels that are easy to work through, and a compact remote that can be used to set the speed, duration or exercise mode.
I tested my vibration plate through every level and found it was quite difficult sometimes to notice the difference between one level and the next. But skip one or two and you’ll soon feel the difference. So in effect I felt the Elegance had more like 10 to 15 usable levels.
Despite the intense vibrations the Elegance kicks out at level 30, the plate is surprisingly quiet. So I’d say you wouldn’t have to worry if you intend to use one next to someone else’s bedroom in the evening. Likewise, if you live above another apartment, this model won’t send seismic shocks down to your neighbors below.
Motive Fitness Elegance Vibration Plate design
The machine itself is fairly basic compared to some of the other vibration plates that I’ve tested, consisting of a compact block-like platform measuring 60cm x 36.5cm (23.5in x 14.4in). It does still, however, boast a vibration frequency of up to 50 hertz which is pretty impressive for such a small plate – compared to standard models that vibrate at 30-40 hertz. Even the Power Plate Move, to my mind the best vibration plate on test, maxes out at 40 hertz.
Weighing just 10.7kg (23.6lb), the Elegance Vibration Plate is easy to carry from room to room and its detachable cable straps mean you can train your legs and arms at the same time – think squats with bicep curls or lunges with lat raises to give you a rapid full-body workout.
Your calorie burn and time and speed can also be selected and viewed on the plate’s control bar. The surface feels slightly textured, making it grippy yet not too rough on bare skin.
Should you buy the Motive Fitness Elegance?
Overall, if you’re after one of the best vibration plates, the Motive Fitness Elegance is an effective option for the most basic of exercises. Don’t expect to use it for more dynamic moves like plyometrics or those that need a lot of surface area. There’s just not enough room for that. There’s just enough room for a squat or wide push-up. However, that does mean it’s compact enough to fit under your sofa.
So, if convenience and portability are as important to you as exercise versatility, if you’re just starting out with vibration training, or if your budget just won’t stretch to something like the Power Plate Move, I reckon you could do a lot worse than the Motive Fitness Elegance. However, if you want more bells and whistles, custom modes or more space to mix up your vibration training, you may want to look elsewhere.
