Nike and Hyperice have teamed up to introduce groundbreaking wearable technology aimed at enhancing athletic performance during training and competition.
This collaboration has led to the Nike x Hyperice boot and vest. While there’s still a place for conventional recovery products like the best foam rollers, these two products have been designed to offer dynamic support to professional athletes in their warm-up and recovery routines.
“Recovery is an important part of any athlete’s journey, but we’re hearing from athletes that this concept of ‘pre-covery’ is equally as important,” says Tobie Hatfield, Senior Director of Nike Athlete Innovation. “The footwear and vest that we’ve developed with Hyperice help get the body ready for activity, whether you’re playing for a title or you’re on your feet a lot at work.”
The Nike x Hyperice boot
The Nike x Hyperice boot is a wearable, mobile high-top shoe that provides heat and dynamic air compression massage for athletes’ feet and ankles. Equipped with dual-air Normatec bladders and warming elements, the boots deliver heat deep into muscles and tissues, promoting faster recovery.
Eliud Kipchoge, the renowned long-distance running athlete, shared his experience: “I have used the Nike x Hyperice boots before and after many key sessions in my training for the Olympic marathon. When using them before a warm-up for a fartlek or hill session, it makes my legs feel light during the workout. I also use them post-run as a key part of recovering my muscles.”
With customizable settings, athletes can synchronize the heat and compression of both shoes or adjust them individually, choosing from three distinct levels of compression and heat. This added flexibility ensures that athletes can tailor their recovery to their specific needs.
Professional golfer Tom Kim also noticed the benefits: “I could tell the difference immediately; I’m so much lighter on my feet after wearing the Nike x Hyperice boot in the morning.”
The Nike x Hyperice vest
The Nike x Hyperice vest introduces a new level of control over body temperature. Utilizing technology from the Hyperice X line of contrast devices, the vest offers instant heating and cooling without the need for ice or liquid. Thermal modules within the vest monitor and maintain body temperature autonomously, while an air bladder and pressure sensor adjust to the body, enhancing both comfort and effectiveness.
Professional footballer Ada Hegerberg underscored the importance of these advancements: “As a footballer, feet are our most precious tool. Taking care of them is absolutely essential, and while we’ve had plenty of tools for other joints, these new boots specifically designed for your feet are very useful for many athletes.”
This vest allows athletes to fine-tune their body temperatures during warm-ups and cooldowns, providing an edge that was previously out of reach.
Shared vision for athlete excellence
Athlete feedback is crucial to the continued development of both the boots and vest. Nike and Hyperice remain committed to integrating athlete insights into their innovations, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for today’s athletes. While only available to elite athletes currently, the Nike x Hyperice products will be released at a later date.
“Since the inception of Hyperice, we have taken a lot of inspiration from Nike, from the care and innovation we put into our products to how we connect with the athlete,” says Anthony Katz, founder and president of Hyperice. “This collaboration is the culmination of years of work between our two brands to deliver innovative footwear and apparel for the athlete with the goal of enhancing their performance and recovery. And this is just the start.”
Stay tuned for more updates on the Nike x Hyperice collaboration, as these brands continue to innovate and elevate the athletic experience.
